WOW, ten years? Seriously? It’s a little cliché, but it’s hard to believe. While our work at CASA involves children and families who are facing their darkest moments, in the past ten years, I have seen the light our CASA Volunteers and staff can provide. I have met some fierce advocates over the years. They have challenged my thinking and I hope I have challenged theirs. To say the past ten years was a roller coaster ride is a bit of an understatement. With all the twists and turns, I have learned our local communities contain some of the most amazing people. They are willing to step out of their comfort zone and step into the child welfare system and make a difference. They are willing to look into the eyes of people hurting and lift their voices up---that’s not easy. I have a staff team that is dedicated to guiding, training and educating volunteers and I have learned so much from them. We have donors who are willing to invest in our mission and for that, I am so grateful. Over the years, the Board of Directors has helped support and guide me. I can’t thank them enough for donating their time and talent to CASA. I love this mission and I have been honored to serve in the role of Executive Director at CASA of West Texas for the past ten years.
